RETURNED 50 YEARS ON

ELVIS – PRESTWICK FIVE-O

 

March 3rd 2010 marks the 50th Anniversary of Elvis Presley's only visit to the UK. It was at Prestwick, the home for the 1631 USAF unit at the time of the King's visit in 1960 and now the base for The Royal Navy Search and Rescue at HMS GANNETT. Elvis set foot in Ayrshire during a stop-off as he was being flown home to the USA from Germany where he had undergone his military service.

We are planning, in association with US AIRFORCE & HMS GANNETT an event to celebrate this very special historical date.

 

ELVIS – PRESTWICK FIVE-0 show will be on Wed’3RD  March 2010.

 

The venue will be in Prestwick Academy assembly room theatre 1-15 Newdykes Rd Prestwick

 

On Wednesday 3RD March 2010

JESSE GARRON & THE WRECKIN’ CREW BIG BAND

Will be there to play host & present a “Welcome to Prestwick” show in Prestwick academy. Tribute Artists, Dancers, Audience participation and Special Guests. All centred around the “Kings” arrival at this Scottish airfield in 1960.

 

WEDNESDAY 3RD March will close with a mass candlelight sing-along, pipe band and involvement from U.S. & HMS Gannett. 

 

Scotland can be proud of the fact that Prestwick Airport is the only place in Britain where Elvis Presley ever set foot. This event is not only to celebrate the “Kings” visit to Scotland but to encourage the local and surrounding areas to take part in a one-off moment promoting Ayrshire, Scotland. The public, schools, trades people and of course, the fans. We would anticipate tremendous interest from all over and we will be contacting Elvis fan clubs worldwide.

The show will kick in around 7.30pm this is to coincide with the same time that Elvis flew in.

 

9pm sees the tuck shop opening where pies, peas, tea, coffee, crisps & lemonade will be on sale. I’m afraid if you want something stronger you’ll have to supply that yourself.

 

11pm show ends and ELVIS LEAVES THE BUILDING.
